How the Parabolic Double Ended Reflector Works:
The Sol-Digital Parabolic is a curved reflector that houses a HID lamp via its supplied K12x30s lamp holder. The Parabolic shape means that the dispersed light from the 1000w lamp is spread more evenly across the grow space which helps eliminate hot-spots, an issue that occurs when light is too highly concentrated in a particular area, therefore delivering excellent results consistently over long periods of time. This reflector also features vents around the lamp holder to allow heat to escape through the top of the reflector. This, combined with the reflector's open design, means that temperatures directly under the lamp are much lower than those under other reflectors, meaning that the Parabolic Reflector can be positioned closer to the top of plants without causing burning.
How to Use this Reflector:
To assemble the Sol-Digital Parabolic, lay the top plate on a large flat surface so that the vents are facing downwards. The leaves can then be fitted over the outer edge of the plate, one at a time. Note that each leaf should overlap the previous leaf as you secure the nuts, bolts and washers in place. Gently bend the reflector leaves if necessary to enable the nuts and bolts to be fitted easily. Repeat the process until the reflector is complete. Once done, turn the reflector over and use the 4 sets of nuts and bolts to secure the lamp holder in place.
Holding your lamp with a clean cloth, insert it into the K12x30s bulb-holder at both ends, making sure that the lamp end with the additional tag (please see image above) is at the ballast end of the fitting and slide the mechanism towards the centre to lock in the lamp.
Hang the reflector over the centre of the grow-space at an appropriate height using easy rolls or jack chain. Plug the lead into an appropriate 400v ballast and switch on.
Warning: When HID lamps are switched on they run extremely hot. As with all high pressure sodium and metal halide bulbs it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires. In particular avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion.
