Rhino Pro Carbon Filter – Proven Long-Life Filtration

The Rhino Pro Carbon Filter is one of the best-known carbon filters in UK indoor growing and is a great alternative if you prefer Rhino filtration.

Rhino Pro filters use RC412 Australian virgin carbon packed into a 50mm carbon bed, with a 51% open-area mesh designed to maintain strong airflow through the filter.

The internal anti-bypass design forces outgoing air through the carbon rather than allowing it to find an easier route around the filter bed.

How to Set Up the Mammoth TT Extraction Kit

1. Hang the carbon filter high in the grow space: Hot, humid air naturally rises, so position the filter near the top of the tent or room.
2. Connect the filter to the fan: Cut a short section from the supplied combi ducting and connect the filter to the intake side of the TT fan using two duct clips.
3. Connect the exhaust ducting: Fit the remaining length of ducting to the outlet side of the fan and secure it using the third duct clip.
4. Route the extracted air away: Ideally exhaust the stale air outside the room rather than recirculating it straight back towards the intake.
5. Keep the duct run tidy: Use the shortest, straightest route practical and avoid tight bends or crushed ducting.
6. Select your fan speed: Start with the appropriate TT speed and monitor temperature, humidity and tent pressure.

How to Choose the Right Extraction Kit Size

A simple way to estimate the airflow your grow room needs is to calculate the volume of the space first:

Length x Width x Height = Room Volume in m³

We generally use one complete air change per minute as a useful starting point:

Room Volume x 60 = Required Airflow per Hour

Then add approximately 20% to allow for resistance from the carbon filter and ducting:

Required Airflow x 1.2 = Recommended Extraction Capacity

For example, a 1.2m x 1.2m x 2m grow tent has a volume of 2.88m³:

2.88 x 60 = 172.8m³/h
172.8 x 1.2 = approximately 207m³/h

This gives you a useful baseline, but higher-powered lighting, warm ambient temperatures, long duct runs and multiple bends can all increase the amount of extraction you need.
