Concentric Ducting Reducer / Enlarger

Sometimes it may be necessary or useful to have the ability to connect equipment or ducting of different sizes in a given extraction system. The concentric ducting reducer enables you to do this quickly and effectively. The concentric reducer can be used to both decrease and increase the diameters of ducting, depending on the direction in which it is positioned.

How a Concentric Ducting Reducer / Enlarger Works

The Concentric Ducting Reducer is a simple piece of metalwork that facilitates the easy connection of equipment and ducting with different diameters. For example, 5" ducting can be conveniently connected to a smaller sized 4" outlet point using this product.

How To Use

How to Use a Concentric Ducting Reducer / Enlarger

When a reducer is fitted after a duct fan, the negative change in diameter can have an impact on airflow as the air is forced to move through a smaller area. This can lead to increases in unwanted noise levels and a reduction in the overall efficiency of your extraction system. Only use a reducer in these circumstances when it is absolutely essential. Conversely, reducers can also be used to increase the size of ducting, creating the opposite effect, reducing noise by creating less resistance for air as it leaves the grow area.

The reducer can be connected to flexi ducting using duct tape or, ideally, with duct clips. A female to female coupling is required to join the reducer to other connectors or to rigid ducting. The female to female coupling has a slightly larger diameter than that of standard ducting sizes, enabling it to be fitted around the circumference of the concentric reducer. The opposite side of the coupling can then be used as the point to insert the ducting or equipment that you wish to connect to.
