Canna grow my own? Yes you can!

Canna Nutrients - One of the original hydroponics nutrients and still growing strong!

Hydroponics is not a new thing. In fact, it has been around since the days of the hanging gardens of Babylon. However, it is only fairly recently that there has been an upsurge in people using the principals to grow their plants. In agriculture, it has been very rarely used and really it is still very much niche method. Yes, various methods of irrigation are employed to get water to the plants in the fields, but as a method of delivering nutrients hardly ever.

A newcomer emerges...

It was really in the late 1970s when the General Hydroponics company (or GH) started up that properly thought out products became available mainly for the small gardeners and horticulturalists. The choice of nutrients back then was not mind-blowing. There just weren't that many brands available, and the founder of Canna was not very impressed by any of them. He decided to change all that

The Canna brand first appeared in the early 1990s and they are one of the most established and recognised brands in 19 out of 20 hydroponics shops throughout Europe, North America, the Middle East, Africa and Australia.

Their products speak for themselves

Even in the beginning, the nutrients that they launched on to the market were the product of years of research and testing. And that philosophy still holds true today. Nothing makes into a bottle on a display stand until it has been rigorously put through it's paces - both in a real-life garden and in their laboratory.

Today, their excellent product line-up receives constant attention to ensure that the uber-high quality of what goes into the bottles is always maintained so that the end-user always gets the top-notch product they expect.

Often recommended to them by friends and associates, Canna nutrients and boosters are often the first choice of newbie growers - and they usually become brand-loyal customers for life, never needing to stray to anything else! After all, as the old adage goes: If it ain't broke, don't fix it.

A comprehensive range of nutrients.....

The range of products that Canna make has grown considerably since they first started. Their constant research means that they have often been the first company to release a product in a new category. Once the product has been proved to work by their customers and has become part and parcel of a Canna grower's armoury, it's then been up to the competition to try to develop a product to rival it. Being an innovator and leading the pack has been hard work for them, but highly rewarding.

The current range of Canna products are all very reliable and established. There's a nutrient for drain-to-waste hydroponics (Canna Hydro aka Substra), another for recirculating hydroponics (Canna Aqua), another for using in coco (Canna Coco), and yet another for soil (Canna Terra).

Each one (with the exception of Canna Coco) comes in 2 variations - one for vegging plants (Vega) and one for fruiting/flowering (Flores). They have been tweaked to provide optimal nutrition for the stage of plant growth that they are going to be used for. Some of the base-nutrients are split further into 2 more versions designed specifically for either hard water or soft water areas. They're all available in 1 litre, 5 litre and 10 litre sizes.

.....and boosters too!

Once you've got the right nutrient for you (and your plants) you will probably want to take advantage of some of the Canna products to help you get even more out of your grow.

Canna Rhizotonic has long been known as THE product to help cuttings take root and to encourage lots of healthy root-growth is vegging plants. It also vastly eases transplant or re-potting stress and is great for general plant health.

Canna PK 13/14 is another very well-known product in their boosters range. It provides a very pure source of additional phosphorous (P) and potassium (K) for that critical time when a plant is putting a lot of energy into fruiting or flowering.

Cannazym breaks down old plant-root material and turns it into food. This keeps the root-zone healthy and gives a new lease of life to your substrate (soil, coco, soilless mix) as well as providing extra nutrients for your plants. It also helps break down complex molecules in plant feeds so that they can be absorbed by the plant more readily. Again, Cannazym is one of those well-established products that's in almost every Canna-loyal customer's feeding schedule.

Do want that last touch above and beyond what PK 13/14 gives? Try Canna Boost Accelerator. It gives an extra kick during the crucial flower or fruit generative stage and it's ingredients are a closely guarded secret. Growers seem to love it, and so do their plants!

It's not just mineral growing

For the organic soil grower, Canna introduced their Bio-Canna range. Packed full of genuinely organic ingredients, these highly effective products are accredited by SKAL and ECO. Organic growing produces fruits and flowers with that additional aromatic edge for the ultimate in quality. And it's working with nature too!

There's a Bio-Canna version of two of their mineral-derived boosters - Bio Rhizotonic and Bio Boost, so you can almost copy your schedule across and get going. And don't forget Canna also make a range of soils and coco too, so you know compatibility is never going to be an issue!
