How the Street Light 1000w / 400v DE Full Fixture with Adjustable Reflector Works
400 Volt HPS technology has been around for a while now and has gained huge popularity among commercial and hobby growers alike. It offers more light output per watt and a better light spectrum than standard 230v systems.
The Street Light 1000w DE grow light boasts a build quality and performance that matches much more expensive units on the market. On top of that, this particular unit features an adjustable reflector. The shoulders of the reflector can be left as standard or swung up and outwards to put it in wide-angle mode. This pushes more of the light out to the sides rather than straight down. As a result this increases its coverage width (great for gardens with overlapping lights) and also allows the fixture to be hung closer to your plants (very useful if you sometimes struggle with height). The reflector wings can be set anywhere in-between as well, allowing the grower to closer match the light footprint to the size and shape of the garden.
The Street Light ballast has 4 output settings - 600w, 800w, 1000w, and 1200w (boost). This means you can turn the power down so that the fixture produces less heat on those hot days. The 1200w boost setting allows you to get the most out of ageing lamps.

How to use the Street Light 1000w / 400v DE Adjustable Reflector HPS Grow Light
Lay the unit down on its back and remove the protective plastic from the inside of the reflector. Next slide the retaining grips on both of the lamp holders towards the edge of the reflector closest to each of them. Using a clean cloth to hold the lamp, identify the end which has the "getter" - a small, square metal module about 1cm square in size with a circle on it. Insert the lamp into the unit so that the getter is at the end closest to the ballast. The glass ends should clip into the retaining springs on the lamp holders at each end. Ensure the wires are neatly situated between the 2 metal contacts inside the lamp holders. Finally slide both of the retaining grips back towards the middle of the reflector. The metal connections will now grip the wires at the ends of the lamp. The grow light is now ready to be used.
Hang the grow light at an appropriate height above the plant canopy. When the wings of the reflector are in normal mode we recommend a minimum distance from lamp to canopy of about 800mm (32 inches). In wide angle mode this distance can be reduced to around 750mm (30 inches).
