More Flower, Less Power with the 315w Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect

CDM (Ceramic Discharge Metal-Halide) lamps give out an intense full spectrum light that plants love, similar to sunshine. As well as being a great standalone unit, the Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect can used as a supplementary light between HPS lamps and will give you incredible fruits that have to be seen to be believed! This kit contains the perfect solution for getting the most out of plants, giving you fantastic yields, smells and flavors at the same time as saving you money on energy. The Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect allows you to "Connect" the Daylight 315w ballast directly to the Horizon wide angled reflector in one small but perfectly formed package.

The great efficiency of Philips CDM lamps gives results that can beat a 400w HPS and even some of the lower quality 600w grow lights out there, but they only use 315 Watts! You have the choice of the Philips GreenPower 930 Elite Agro CDM Lamp or the Philips MasterColour 942 Daylight CDM Lamp. The 930 Elite Agro Lamp offers a broad spectrum with extra red light and the 942 Daylight Lamp offers slightly more in the green, either will give you strong healthy plants but are geared towards flower and veg respectively. Also available is the standard Maxibright Horizon 315w CDM Grow Light Kit which features a standalone reflector and doesn't hold the ballast.

(Please note: the Horizon connect reflector only contains a short IEC lead to connect to the ballast, with the ballast containing a 2m cable you may need an extension lead, found here: 5 Metre Black IEC Light Extension. This will also give you the option of running the ballast remote if needed for any reason!)

  • Truly plug and play product, simple set-up
  • Can be used as a standalone unit or as a supplemental lighting source
  • Sleek and compact design
  • Save on your electricity bills and produce the same yields
  • CDM - Gives full spectrum light that plants love, like having sunshine indoors!
  • Uniform wide angle reflector spreads light evenly for areas up to 1.2 x 2.4 metres
  • Less heat output than equivalent HPS lights
  • Horizon Connect Reflector dissipates heat outwards away from your canopy
  • Gives off 1.9 umols PPF per watt - amazingly efficient!

How the Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect 315w CDM Grow Light Kit Works:

CDM lamps produce an incredibly intense full spectrum light that plants love, so which lamp should I use?

Philips CDM 930 Spectrum Graph

The 315w Philips GreenPower 930 Elite Agro CDM Lamp is perfect for flowering/fruiting as it has a very high PPF (photosynthetic photon flux) which a way of quantifying the amount of light that plants can actually use.

Philips CDM 942 Spectrum Graph

We recommend using the The Philips MasterColour 942 Daylight CDM Lamp during veg growth which gives off a crisp white light, producing an amazing rate of growth, good branching and very short inter node length.

The black line in the graphs above represents the "McCree Curve", which gives a relative indication of how efficiently a plant uses the different colours in the light spectrum to photosynthesise with.

The Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect gives your plants wider light spread and using the open reflector distributes heat evenly by creating a natural air current, eliminating hot spots. The design of the reflector ensures that your indoor garden will be evenly and brilliantly lit. They are incredibly robust too, the quality is evident right out the box.

The Ballast, a Maxibright Daylight 315w has all the incredible features of the DigiLight range but additionally is designed to get the best out of the Philips 315w lamp of your choosing included in the kit. The ballast features Soft-Start technology to help avoid nuisance-tripping on start-up, particularly if you have more than one of these units starting up at the same time. On top of that, the Daylight ballast includes end-of-lamp-life detection, dynamic frequency control, short-circuit detection, thermal protection and auto-reset. The unit runs silently and is reasonably light weight.

The Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect allows growers to conveniently fix there ballast, lamp and reflector together above the canopy out of harms way, no more wires on the floor as everything is suspended above head height. The Daylight 315w ballast simply fixes together via the two fixing points, screw the ballast onto the reflector, attach the IEC connectors together and it's ready to go.

How to use the Maxibright Daylight Horizon Connect 315w CDM Grow Light Kit:

Simply hang the reflector with the ballast attached and lamp inserted over the centre of the grow-space at an appropriate height using easy rolls, rope ratchet hangers or jack chain. Always screw the lamp into the lamp-holder in your reflector as tightly as possible by gripping the lamp with a clean, dry cloth. If the lamp is not screwed in as tightly as possible, arcing can occur between the centre contact of the lamp and the lamp-holder. This melts the solder contact on the bottom of the lamp, causing damage and making it un-usable. Make sure that the lamp is clean and completely free of fingerprints and other contaminants.

Connect the input lead of your reflector to the output lead of the ballast ensuring the cable is not pulled tight and does not encounter anything hot (e.g. lamp, reflector, ballast).

The wattage of your ballast MUST match the wattage of the lamp you are using or there will be a high risk of fires or equipment damage. Only use the Horizon Connect ballast that comes with this kit for firing up the CDM lamps. Never use a HPS or MH ballast with CDM lamps. Connect the mains plug into an electrical outlet socket and switch on. The ballast will start-up and light the lamp.

PLEASE NOTE: The 315w CDM lamps need to be bedded in as follows: on first illumination the lamp needs to be run continuously for a minimum of 15 minutes. This will allow the metals within the lamp to fuse correctly.

FAILURE TO DO THIS WILL RESULT IN LAMP FAILURE!
If the above is not adhered to, lamp warranty claims will be void.

Warning: When CDM HID (High Intensity Discharge) lamps are switched on they run extremely hot. As with all HID lamps it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires. In particular, avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion.
