Gavita Pro E-Series 1000e - 1000w / 400v HPS - Complete Grow Light
The Gavita Pro 1000e HPS Grow Light - Superb 400V Technology
The 1000e is an E-Series compatible version of the ever-popular 1000w HPS Pro Fixture. With the inclusion of an RJ14 socket, you can connect it to a Gavita Master Controller and experience the benefits of centrally controlled lighting – no more contactors and timers, and a ton of new features! Even without a Master Controller, the 1000e offers additional functionality over the standard model, running at output levels of 600w, 750w, 825w, 1000w, 1150w – allowing you to tailor lighting to your environmental conditions.
- Compatible with the EL1 and EL2 Master Controllers
- Adjustable between 600w, 750w, 825w, 1000w and 1150w settings
- Professional level horticultural lighting converted for domestic use
- Produces more light than standard 1000 Watt lighting systems
- Runs cooler than standard 1000 Watt lighting systems
- Better colour spectrum than a standard 1000 Watt lighting system
- Uses the same amount of power as a standard 1000 Watt lighting system
- Gives at least 10% higher yields compared to a standard 1000 Watt lighting system
- Runs off a normal 230 Volt domestic mains supply
- Includes lamp and combined ballast & reflector
- Replacement lamps are available: Philips 1000 Watt EL DE Lamp
1 x Gavita Pro E-Series 1000e (complete fixture with lamp, ballast and reflector), 2 x RJ14 to RJ14 cables, 1 x RJ14 splitter (2-1), 1 x 5.0m power cable
How the Gavita Pro 1000e Works:
The output colour spectrum of this grow light:
The black line in the graph above represents the "McCree Curve", which gives a relative indication of how efficiently a plant uses the different colours in the light spectrum to photosynthesise with.
The 1000e is a Master Controller compatible version of the classic 1000w Gavita Pro. Unlike the original model, the 1000e comes with 600w, 750w, 825w, 1000w and 1150w output settings, as well as an 'ext' setting for when you want to use it with your Master Controller. Connecting to the Master Controller itself has been made as quick and easy as possible, and is effectively 'plug and play'. You can then take advantage of the Master Controller's range of features.
400 Volt HPS Pro lamps are more efficient than standard HPS lamps. Both consume the same power and therefore cost exactly the same to run, but Pro lamps run at a higher voltage and a lower current. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps produce more light for the same power consumption and will give at least 10% higher yield compared to even the best standard HPS systems. In fact, when they are seen side-by-side, the HPS Pro lamps are noticeably brighter, run cooler and the light they produce is slightly whiter. So in addition to them giving a higher yield, plants grown under a 400 Volt Pro HPS are healthier, happier and are at less risk of heat damage, too.
UK mains power (230 Volts) is fed to the ballast via a standard mains lead. The specialised ballast then converts the mains electricity to drive the 400 Volt / 1000 Watt lamp. The distance from the ballast to the lamp is very short, meaning that virtually no power is lost through the connecting cable, while eliminating the risk of electromagnetic interference. The reflector has been especially designed to give a superbly even light spread despite its small size. The surface of the reflector has one of the best coatings available and gives at least 95% reflectivity.
400 Volt / 1000 Watt lamps maintain their efficiency and light output for much longer than standard HPS lamps. In fact they will normally last at least a year before they need to be changed out. It should be noted that normal HPS lamps and 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps are NOT interchangeable with different ballasts. Standard HPS lamps should only be used with standard or digital 230 Volt ballasts. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps should only be used in lighting systems with a 400 Volt Pro HPS ballast like with this Gavita product. 400 Volt Pro HPS lamps can be identified by the HPS EL marking on them.
How to Use the Gavita Pro 1000e:
Hang the unit over the centre of the grow-space at an appropriate height using easy rolls, jack chain or rope ratchets. Use the 'RJ14 to RJ14' cable to connect the unit up to the supplied splitter. From the splitter, you can connect to the Master Controller (using the 'RJ9 to RJ14' cable supplied with the Master Controller). You can then use the second RJ14 to RJ14 cable to connect to the next ballast in the chain.
Run the 5m lead from the reflector to a standard UK mains outlet or your contactor and switch on. When running multiple lights, we strongly advise using the following power distribution units.
Gavita recommends that the reflector is changed regularly to maintain garden efficiency because the reflectivity of the surface does degrade a little over time. We would recommend every 1-2 years.
Warning 1: When it is time to change out the lamp, make sure that it is replaced with another 400 Volt / 1000 Watt Pro HPS lamp such as the Philips Greenpower 400 Volt / 1000 Watt HPS EL. Using a standard HPS lamp in a 400 Volt lighting system will possibly cause damage, explosions or fire. Fit the lamp as shown in the image above so that the side with the small square is closest to the ballast and the other end is at the outer edge of the reflector.
Warning 2: When HID lamps are switched on they run extremely hot. As with all high pressure sodium and metal halide bulbs it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires. In particular, avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion.
Fitting your Double Ended Lamp
To fit your double ended lamp correctly see the image below
Ensure that you follow manufacturer's guidelines when fitting your double ended lamp, as incorrect fitting will result in damage. This damage is NOT covered under the manufacturer's warranty.
