How the Cultilene Maxxima Rockwool Slab Works:

Cultilene Maxxima Rockwool Slabs are long lengths of Rockwool designed for use in an appropriate size Aqua Tray. Rockwool holds lots of water and air for fast rooting and growth. Several plants (usually 3-6) can be grown on the length of the slab, reducing delivery and draining pipework. Cultilene spin their rockwool in two directions rather than one which means Cultilene slabs hold their shape better when wet than other makes. Aqua trays work by containing a small number of plants (usually between 3 and 6) spaced equally along a rockwool slab placed inside it. Nutrient solution is pumped to the plants via drippers at regular intervals and excess nutrient solution drains out of the rockwool slabs. One of the benefits of using Cultilene Maxxima slabs is that they take up little height and several can be used side-by-side on a table or on a frame for a “stadium” layout.

Using Cultilene Maxxima Rockwool Slabs

Cultilene Maxxima Rockwool Slabs are usually used in Aqua Trays and can be placed side-by-side on a table or a frame. Ideally there should be slight decline in height down towards the draining pipe end. Rockwool Slabs in Aqua Trays can also be placed in a shallow “V” shape so that trays at the sides are at a higher level than those in the middle. In this way, plants in the trays at the sides are as close to your lamp as those directly underneath it, thus increasing your light-efficiency. Place the rockwool slab into an Aqua Tray and place your drippers close to the points where you will be putting your plants. Connect up the drippers to your nutrient solution reservoir via a pump and timer, plant your cuttings and you’re ready to start growing!
