Cool Shade Reflector 8-inch (200mm) With Wings (520mm Long)
Cool Shade Reflector 8-inch (200mm) With Wings
Cool shade reflectors are a very cost-effective way of helping to keep your grow-room temperatures down, particularly during the summer months. Now with external “wings" for an improved lighting footprint.
- Very cost-effective air-cooled reflector
- Includes an internal reflector and 2 external wings for better light directivity
- Can be placed closer to your plants than non-air cooled reflectors
- Completely sealed
- Great value-for-money
- 8-inch (200mm) diameter, suitable for HID lamps up to 1000w
1 x 6-inch (200mm) diameter Cool Shade Reflector with 4 metre cable terminated in an IEE plug
How the Cool Shade Reflector Works:
The Cool Shade Reflector 8-inch (200mm) With Wings is a heat resistant glass tube containing an E40 lamp-holder and a reflector-panel. Air is blown through the cool-shade by an 8-inch (200mm) extractor fan connected by 8-inch (200mm) ducting (fan and ducting not supplied) which is then expelled outside of the grow-room. The air blowing through the shade directly cools the lamp and removes the hot air inside the cool tube. In this way the glass of the cool-tube only gets warm only, not hot. This allows the reflector to be placed closer to your lamps and helps to prevent the air in your grow-room from getting too warm. The Cool Shade now includes external wings, improving the reflector's effectiveness.
How to Use the Cool Shade Reflector:
The Cool Shade Reflector 8-inch (200mm) With Wings is designed for use with any horizontally mounted 400w, 600W or 1000W HPS or MH lamp. Simply hang the reflector over the centre of the grow-space at an appropriate height using easy rolls or jack chain. Holding your lamp with a clean cloth insert it into the E40 bulb-holder in the Cool Shade and screw it in very firmly. Connect your 8-inch (200mm) extractor fan to one end of the cool shade via 8-inch (200mm) ducting and clamp it in place. It is recommended that, if possible, the extractor fan should be connected on the inlet side of the Cool Tube so that it blows cold air through it rather than on the outlet side sucking hot air out, which may reduce the lifespan of your extractor fan. 8-inch (200mm) ducting can be connected to the other end of the Cool Tube to vent the hot air out of the grow room. When the fan is running and air is flowing through the Cool Tube, the power lead can be connected into an appropriate ballast for your HPS/MH type lamp and switched on.
Please Note: HID lamps should never be switched on unless a fan is moving air through the Cool Tube or overheating will result in damage to the reflector and lamp.
If a larger diameter fan is connected to this shade via a reducer, the high air-flow may cool your lamp too much which will alter its colour output spectrum, making it much less effective. Only use an 8-inch (200mm) fan with this Cool Shade Reflector.
Warning: When HID lamps are switched on they run extremely hot. As with all high pressure sodium and metal halide bulbs it is necessary to avoid touching the lamp with anything such as fingers or plants as this may cause severe burns or fires. In particular avoid sprays or liquids coming into contact with the lamp as this may cause premature failure or even an explosion.
