The Certified Organic Substrate from the Experts at Canna

Canna Bio Terra Plus's blend of substrates has been fully certified to ensure that it meets international organic standards. It's the perfect soil mix for users who want to grow as naturally as possible, producing fruits with a truly succulent flavour. It also creates superb drainage, helping to oxygenate the root-zone, pushing yields as far as possible.

Virtually all soil products encourage beneficial microbial activity in the root-zone. This increases yield and root-health. For a really flourishing microherd we highly recommend using Ecothrive Neutralise to avoid the chlorine/chloramine in tap water from inhibiting, or even killing, the friendly microbes, plus a quality beneficial inoculant such as Ecothrive Biosys when growing in soil. For an extra kick, try Ecothrive Charge too!

How Canna Bio Terra Plus Works

Canna Bio Terra Plus is a soil mix that meets international organic standards, containing only 100% naturally sourced component substrates, making it ideal for growers who are interested in fully organic cultivation. The mix is largely made up of peat. The white peat used has an airy structure that provides excellent drainage, while oxygenating the substrate, encouraging the development of strong, healthy roots. Shredded tree bark is also included in the mix for its natural anti-fungal and anti-septic properties, helping to ensure that your containers stay free of pathogens, reducing the likelihood of encountering root disease. Dolomite lime is included to stabilize pH levels – Bio Terra Plus comes with a pH reading of 5.8. The mix is lightly fertilised with naturally sourced, fully organic NPK fertilisers giving it an EC reading of 1.0, providing plenty of nutrients for the first few weeks. Bio Terra is a very forgiving medium and the NPK fertilisers are formulated to be slow-release, meaning that you'll only need to feed with plain water at first and gradually introduce your nutrient regimen at low doses, working your way up as you go along.

How to Use Bio Terra Plus

Canna Bio Terra Plus is ready-to-use straight out of the bag. Simply fill your pot to within an inch or two of the top, place your plant into it and water well. Water again only when the soil becomes a little dry to help avoid root-rot. For better resistance, Canna Trichoderma or other friendly microbe additive can be used. Plants grown in Canna Bio Terra Plus do not require any added nutrients initially. On average, you can expect Bio Terra to provide enough nutrients for 2-4 weeks growth, though this will vary depending on the particular plant and its stage of development. As always, introduce nutrients gradually and look for the signals from your plant that will tell you whether to increase or decrease the fertiliser. A slightly pale colour generally indicates that you'll need to increase dosages, whereas overly dark leaves with burning at the tips indicate over-fertilisation.
