The Autopot 2-Pot System Contains:

How the Autopot 2-Pot System Works:
Autopots are a great way to supply your plants with the nutrients they require without having to use pumps or electrical equipment. Instead, these systems rely on gravity and the ingenious Aquavalve to distribute nutrients as and when they are needed. Because of this, these kits are simple to install and very user friendly.
The Aquavalve sits in the centre of the Autopot Tray, allowing nutrient to fill the tray to a level of 20mm, feeding plants from the bottom of the container. Once this nutrient has been absorbed and the tray is empty, the Aquavalve automatically refills it back to the 20mm level using an ingenious float valve system. Fresh nutrient solution is only ever delivered once root systems have absorbed the previous 20mm of feed.
Because Autopots are fed from underneath, they require a medium that is able to absorb liquid effectively, 'sucking' it up to the upper regions of the container and creating an even spread of nutrient. Coco coir ticks these boxes, making it the best performing medium we've tested for use in these systems. It's also advisable to mix growing mediums with perlite, up to a ratio of around 4 parts medium to 1 part perlite, particularly when using heavier potting soils. Even coco benefits when the medium is mixed with perlite at a rate of around 5:1 (coco - perlite).
How to use the Autopot 2-Pot System:
Place the Autopot Tray in a central area under your grow lamp. Lift the lid in the centre of the tray and locate the raised tee shape. Position the Aquavalve so that its 'half-moon' sits on the raised T shape inside the tray.
Locate the light blue (sometimes yellow) collar on the Aquavalve, unscrew it, and push the 6mm flexi pipe on to the barbed inlet point that sits inside the collar. The light blue collar can then be screwed back into position to secure the 6mm pipe in place. The other end of the 6mm pipe should be connected to a suitable reservoir. We recommend the separately available 47 litre Header Tank with Lid and Grommet.
Place the root control discs copper side up in the bottom of the Autopot containers. Fill the containers with your chosen medium. Remember, this system work best with absorbent mediums with good capillary action. Coco coir is perfect for this, but remember to use coco specific feeds when choosing nutrients. Soil is fine, but heavier grades work best when mixed with up to 25% perlite. You can then pot up your chosen plants.
Water from the top down in an external area and allow them to drain fully outside of the Autopot Trays before adding the containers to the system. Allow 7 – 10 days of top down hand-watering before filling the reservoir with nutrient and activating the gravity-fed feeding system. A separately available inline tap can be inserted into the flexi pipe to enable you to fill the tank without activating the system.
Also included with this kit is a 6mm Tee Piece, which can be inserted into the length of the 6mm Flexi Pipe to enable this system to form part of a chain of separate Autpots connected to the same Header Tank.
To check that the Aquavalve is functioning properly, hold it at eye level and take a close look at the yellow silicon which is fitted into the top float. In order for the Aquavalve to function correctly, a tight seal should be formed between this float and the hole that sits underneath it. If it doesn't sit properly over the hole, lift the top float up, remove the yellow silicon and give it a quick clean. When you put it back into position it should form a tight seal.
The Aquavalve should be cleaned after each grow using warm soapy water and a cloth.
