Which size kit do I need for my Grow Tent?
There exists a (relatively) easy formula to work out which size extraction you need for your space, find out the volume in m3 (meters cubed) of your grow space with Width x Length x Height = Volume. then, Volume x 60 = Air Movement Per Hour (this will refresh the air in your grow room every minute).
If you are using a filter (which you are), Air Movement Per Hour x 1.2 = the amount of air your fan will need to move - use the figures below to match up your space to an RVK kit!
Bear in mind it's always better to over spec your fan and reduce its output with a controller, this gives you the flexibility to increase it's output to maintain optimum conditions for your plants, for example in the middle of summer.

Our KSA Fan, Acoustic Ducting & Rhino Pro Extraction Kit contains everything you need to remove stale air and odours from a grow-space. All the parts are top quality and matched to work together perfectly. For example, KSA fans are notoriously quiet and reliable and they create a huge amount of air-flow for their size. Rhino Pro Filters are, quite simply, the best carbon filters that money can buy. A fast clamp makes easy work of joining the fan and filter together.
In this kit we have included Acoustic Ducting which has a layer of insulation sandwiched between 2 layers of aluminium flexi-ducting. The layer of insulation greatly reduces the wind noise inside the ducting getting to the outside via the ducting wall. Also included is a power cable with a moulded mains plug for the extraction fan and a duct clip completes the set-up. Please use the links above to read in more detail about the individual parts.
Using the KSA Fan, Acoustic Ducting & Rhino Pro Extraction Kit:
The KSA Fan is terminated with an IEC socket. The IEC plug on the end of the power cable plugs straight into it and the mains plug on the other end of the power cable can then be plugged directly into a mains socket or into a fan speed controller. The intake side of the fan and the filter are joined together using the fast clamp. They can then be hung inside your grow-tent or grow-room (fixings are not supplied but bungee cords are a great way to keep fan-noise as low as possible). Because warm air rises it always is a good idea to try to mount the fan and filter as high as possible in the grow-space. The Acoustic Ducting can then be fitted to the outlet side of the duct-fan and secured in place using the duct clip. The ducting can then be run to your air outlet.
Do not under any circumstances put your fingers into the spinning blades of a fan, especially an in-line type. Even a small fan has enough power to cause severe injury and loss of fingers. Just don’t do it, no matter how tempted you are. Keep ducting runs as short as possible as every metre of ducting reduces the flow-rate that the fan can achieve. The more ducting attached, the lower the air-flow. Bear in mind that a carbon filter will reduce the air-flow that your fan can achieve by about 25% just on it’s own. When turning a corner with ducting try to create a swept bend rather than a sharp knee as this will reduce air-flow by the least amount and also help to keep wind-noise down. To further keep wind-noise down to a minimum, stretch ducting out as much as possible.
Moisture degrades the performance of carbon filters. High humidity makes them ineffective at eliminating smells and reduces the expected life-span by a significant amount. Try to keep humidity at a reasonable level (between 40% and 60%) and both your carbon filter and your plants will benefit.
